How Kevin Tita Is Helping Define The Sound Of Black Music In Cyprus.

Whether we like it or not when ever black music in Cyprus is mentioned, one name that always comes to mind is 'KEVIN TITA'. The multi-talented artist who switches between rapping and singing on all his songs has come a long way from under-rated to celebrated in recent times.  If you ever meet him, his composure and aura never seems like that of an artist that has the whole black community in Cyprus listening to his sound, he stays friendly and humble.
For anyone that might have doubts about this fact, take a look at his never ending streak of wins at the ASGA Awards in the last 3 years, that is something that can be backed with a list of trending songs he has released in each year he won. From 'Grass To Grace' to 'Cash Out' was a period in time when he was mostly known as a hiphop rapper and almost nothing more. That for sure was a time when rap music  in Cyprus was at it's very peak with artists like El Bee, VersaceBoyz and TBonez helping keep the genre at the very top on the Island.

The transition for Kevin Tita began after he was featured on JayBlinkz 'Million Dollar Movement' in 2015, he took the chorus on the song and contributed a very smooth second verse on the song but that tune wouldn't have become what it becmae without that hook which although was written by comedian, N.I Emeka but was nicely and smoothly delivered by Kevin Tita. From that point on we knew Kevin was already moving away from the western rap style he became popular for. He still romanced with rap on his early 2016 release 'I Am The Man' which compared to his previous works was somewhat a flop. Between 'Million Dollar Movement' and his recent explosion, he kept staying afloat through features on other artists songs, interviews on various platforms and shows which he gets booked for all year round.

Kevin Tita finaly kissed western rap good bye after the release of his smash hit song 'WAIT' which till date is one of the biggest songs ever to be released in Cyprus if not the biggest. The song was produced by a young talent we have come to know as Donald D. The song is so popular that Kevin of recent has not been performing club shows anymore, he has been performing at concerts and festivals in recent times. Without a big budget promo plan, fans gravitated towards his new sound and soon videos were posted on Instagram of various people vibing and singing to the song word for word. One other thing that sruck a cord in our conciousness about how popular Kevin Tita has become is the fact that there are actually people driving around in personal cars in Cyprus playing his songs. This is the first time such has happened with a Cyprus based artist on the Island. It seems people are no longer ashamed of supporting our home based artists.

Not to revel in just the success of 'WAIT' alone, Kevin Tita has also followed up with another catchy tune titled 'Tripping For You' which has been growing in popularity just like 'WAIT' did and soon that song will be everywhere by God's grace'. Just if anyone had doubts about his massive contribution to the afrobeats movement in Cyprus, Kevin Tita was crowned Artist Of The Year at the All Nigerians in Diaspora Awards which was graced by Patoranking and Uti Nwachukwu. He was the only artist invited to perform at the FUTSAL Cup Of Nations which was held in EMU and oh boy oh boy, he shut it down and made Nigerians really proud to have one of their own take the stage and share their sound with attendees from other nationalities.

If any iota of doubt still remained in anyone's mind, Kevin Tita was also crownd Artist Of The Year yet again at the ASGA Awards and his song 'WAIT' won in the category of Song Of The Year. Right now, everyone' fingers are crossed as to what his next move will be, probably he should start dropping visuals to his songs as expected of him, he has really done well to come this far without a single video like other artists have done. If you ever meet him, his composure and aura never seems like that of an artist that has the whole black community in Cyprus listening to his sound, he stays friendly and humble.

From this point on we wish Kevin Tita nothing but more success and more open doors to bigger opportunities so atleast we can have one of our own find international success both in Nigeria and worldwide. If he keeps working hard the way he is doing now, He will surely have the world at his feet in time to come.
